When I began to see pearls poppin’ up on jeans, shoes, and tops, I was not too sure how I felt about it. I thought it was kind of cute, but maybe a little too much for my taste. I’m not really a fan of pearl jewelry. Don’t get me wrong, they do have their place, but I don’t find myself reaching for pearl earrings or necklaces too much when putting an outfit together. So it’s no surprise that I wasn’t too excited about the thought of sweaters with pearls, or pearls on any of my clothing.
When I see a fashion trend, I usually put it in one of four categories:
A. I love it!
B. Hmmm, that one may have to grow on me.
C. I don’t like it, but it looks good on her.
D. I hate it.
Like with many other trends, this one grew on me over time. I thought, maybe I can pull if off if I were to choose items with a subtle amount of pearls.
When I saw this cardigan sweater with pearls from Lane Bryant, I said, “yes”, I can pull off the trend without overdoing it. this sweater has slightly belled sleeves that are embellished with pearls. I wore a white cami underneath, and topped it off with a simple silver lariat necklace. To keep the outfit casual, I paired the sweater with my favorite pair of skinny jeans. I also added another cool trend to the outfit- the white boot.
I am now moving the “pearl” trend from category C to category A, I love it!
What do you think of this trend? Do you have any clothes or shoes with pearl embellishments? If not, will you be picking up any?
