LOFT has always been one of those coveted stores that I envied. I loved the looks that I would see on their website, and showcase windows, however, I could not shop there because they didn’t carry my size.
Like many other Plus Size fashionistas, I was pretty excited when LOFT announced that they would be adding plus sizes to their line.
Currently the plus size items are only available online, however, they plan to bring them to the brick and mortar stores soon. I was lucky enough to attend one of their in store pop up events where they displayed the new plus size line. I tried on several pieces, and took a few home with me.
At The Event
The staff was so friendly and helpful in assisting us to match pieces. The best thing was that the actual designer was right there at the event! She wanted to know our opinion on the new line, and asked us questions such as: how the fit was, and if there was anything that we thought could be added or changed. I thought that this was great. A mini focus group session from actual customers right there in the store.
I found that for the most part, the pieces were true to size. As I was selecting my items to try on, the sizing on the tags threw me a little. They were labeled as 16/18, and 24/26, as opposed to the standard 18/20 and 22/24 that I’m used to seeing with plus size clothing. Some of the ladies were thrilled with this unique way of sizing, and thought that it would help if you were “in between” sizes.
One of the wrap dresses in the line was cut pretty low in the bust area. As cute as this piece was, it just did’t work out for many of us that tried it on. Several people voiced this with the designer, and let her know that when designing plus size clothing, we typically need more coverage in the bust area, and the designer took a mental note.
One Dress for Several Occasions
One of my favorite pieces was this floral embroidered dress. The versatility of this dress does not stop. Having a peice that can be worn for several occasions is a necessity in your wardrobe, and this one does not disappoint. This split neck dress will hit right above the knee on most frames. It’s casual enough to be worn for a summer outing, but you can also wear this dress to the office or church by simply changing out the shoes. The embroidery detail is adorable, and the removable tie waist adds to the versatility of this piece.
