I’ll be the first to admit, I’m not a huge fan of floral print. I don’t recall exactly how I formed my opinion of floral print clothing, nevertheless, I’ve always looked the other way when walking past a clothing rack that contained floral dresses or tops.
For the last few seasons, we have seen florals popping up in a major way. They seem to be a constant trend as each season rolls in, and this Spring is no different.
As with most fashion trends, it takes me a while to get into a new one, I need to see the trend over and over, styled on several people and styled several different ways before I finally say, “Hmmm, I think I kinda like that”.
On my latest visit to Torrid I saw so many looks with floral print. I thought, “This must be a sign”, so I grabbed a handful of pieces and headed to the dressing room. After my try on session, I shocked myself when I deiced to take home not one, but two floral print pieces.
Easing Into Floral Print
The first item I chose was this navy blue challis maxi dress. This dress is perfect for a backyard party, or a Saturday afternoon lunch date. I love that there are splits on both sides of the dress. The splits are not too high though, so you can keep it sexy and classy. I often see sundresses that have spaghetti straps, but those don’t always work if you’re heavier up top, and strapless bras don’t work well for you. This dress is sleeveless, but has ample material on the shoulders, so wearing it with a regular bra is not a problem at all.
The Second item I chose was a floral print duster. Dusters are quickly becoming a go to item for me. When I can’t think of anything else to wear, I default to a duster over a tee shirt and jeans. This yellow floral print chiffon duster from Torrid was the first thing I saw on the mannequin when I walked into the store. I immediately began searching the store for it. There was only one left so I grabbed it like a mother trying to snatch up the last Cabbage Patch doll for her kid. This duster/ kimono definitely takes your jeans and tee to the next level. I love pieces that can add a pop of style to an otherwise understated look. If you are looking to ease into floral print clothing, this duster is perfect.
